FLUSHING OUT
It is said what happens in a Tarot Reading is part of the
reading.
For instance; if I’m reading cards for a client and a car passes
on the road outside and our attention is drawn to the sound then look to The
Chariot or indeed any cards in the spread having the number 7 (7 being the
number of The Chariot).
Perhaps what draws my attention is a banging car stereo say,
then it could be bringing The Magician in to mind, or, what may spring to mind
is ah! that’s a young person driving past, which can lead me to look and see if
any of the cards are representing young people in the querants life, perhaps
the young person is the querent and they are looking for ways to find their
voice so that they’ll be heard.
To make sense of these “outside events” I need to catch what’s
going on through a process called “flushing out”, so regarding young people for
example, it could prompt me to ask if there are any young people prominent in
my client’s life that are needing to be heard, or It could be that noisy
neighbours are an issue…. or are they are having trouble getting things to
start, or going somewhere, or is there disorder or a lack of harmony in their
life? (as all are significators of The Chariot). It’s not so much the
actuality, in fact it could be a much older driver, but the generality of a
banging stereo is usually that of someone young. So, you don’t have to see it
with your own eyes but it’s catching the message that is being conveyed that
matters.
Tarot is about what’s really going on and what’s the
question really about. Often a client might not really know what it is they are
asking about, or even how to ask and this is where flushing out comes into its
own.
There are many layers in a Tarot card and it’s up to me as a
reader to discover just what is presenting for examination. You might go to a
reader to have insight on getting a new job when in fact it is not really about
the job but say issues at home that are the bottom of dissatisfaction with the
present employment… It may even be something as obvious as the need for a
holiday. Yes, there are cards that indicate holidays and also for peace and
quiet.
