FLUSHING OUT

It is said what happens in a Tarot Reading is part of the reading.

For instance; if I’m reading cards for a client and a car passes on the road outside and our attention is drawn to the sound then look to The Chariot or indeed any cards in the spread having the number 7 (7 being the number of The Chariot).
Perhaps what draws my attention is a banging car stereo say, then it could be bringing The Magician in to mind, or, what may spring to mind is ah! that’s a young person driving past, which can lead me to look and see if any of the cards are representing young people in the querants life, perhaps the young person is the querent and they are looking for ways to find their voice so that they’ll be heard.

To make sense of these “outside events” I need to catch what’s going on through a process called “flushing out”, so regarding young people for example, it could prompt me to ask if there are any young people prominent in my client’s life that are needing to be heard, or It could be that noisy neighbours are an issue…. or are they are having trouble getting things to start, or going somewhere, or is there disorder or a lack of harmony in their life? (as all are significators of The Chariot). It’s not so much the actuality, in fact it could be a much older driver, but the generality of a banging stereo is usually that of someone young. So, you don’t have to see it with your own eyes but it’s catching the message that is being conveyed that matters.

Tarot is about what’s really going on and what’s the question really about. Often a client might not really know what it is they are asking about, or even how to ask and this is where flushing out comes into its own.
There are many layers in a Tarot card and it’s up to me as a reader to discover just what is presenting for examination. You might go to a reader to have insight on getting a new job when in fact it is not really about the job but say issues at home that are the bottom of dissatisfaction with the present employment… It may even be something as obvious as the need for a holiday. Yes, there are cards that indicate holidays and also for peace and quiet.

Difference Between Cards and Stars

I am often asked what the difference between a Tarot (Cards) session and an Astrological (Stars) session is, the answer to that is….
well it all depends on what question/s you are asking.

Tarot and Astrology are both ways of divining what is happening, both in the space outside of you and the large space inside you. Tarot is the study of chaos while Astrology is the study of order.
Allow me to explain a little of what I mean by that. First when the cards go down there is no way you can tell what ones are going to appear, in what order they will appear or what way up they will be.
Astrology on the other hand is an orderly discipline. We know exactly where all the planets were and the conversations they were having with each other for thousands of years, both forwards and back from the time you are reading this …. Cool!

Ok …. When you look at your birth chart what you are seeing is all the potential you are born with, what you have brought with you, the helpful and the not so helpful. All nice and orderly.
Naturally or perhaps unfortunately it does not stay orderly for long. And that’s where other techniques are called for to answer the question what’s going on and how can I make sense of it all? And, perhaps more importantly how can this be beneficial for me?

Astrologically speaking there are many ways which I won’t bore you with to answer these questions but the what’s going on appears to have many different layers to it. And that my friends is where Tarot comes in.
Tarot points the way to where chaos and order meet. Somehow or other, and please don’t ask me how, Tarot has this magical ability to take the multi-layered cake of life you have baked for yourself and brings an orderly focus to what the planets are indicating.

So why choose one or the other? I use astrological techniques every time I read Tarot and when I read a birth chart, I use Tarot techniques.
The difference starts with timing, for astrology to have real impact and to tell a magical story you need to know your birth time as well as the date and place of your birth.

With Tarot all that is needed is your birthday and the magic of life unfolds.
